What do I need to do?

My vehicle has been damaged in a storm, what should I do?

  • If there is damage to your vehicle (but it is driveable), advise Master Builders Insurance Brokers (MBIB) on 1800 150 888. We will then contact your insurer to get your vehicle assessed for repair.

  • If your car vehicle is undrivable, have it towed to a place of repair, and then advise (MBIB) on 1800 150 888. We will then contact your insurer to get your vehicle assessed for repair.

Motor Incident Checklist

  1. Stay calm and assess the situation.

  2. Check if anyone is injured - call 000 if emergency services are required.

  3. Notify the police as soon as possible if:
    1. a person is injured or has died
    2. anyone’s property (not including vehicles) has been damaged as a result of the accident c. the other party involved doesn’t stop or won’t provide you with their details.

  4. Use your mobile phone to take pictures of the scene and vehicle damage (where safe to do so).

  5. Record details of other drivers involved:
    1. full name
    2. residential address
    3. phone number & email address
    4. licence number
    5. their insurance details

  6. Complete a claim form and notify MBIB of the incident as soon as possible.

Under no circumstances should you admit liability, either verbally or in writing.

This information is supplied to assist in having your vehicle repaired as soon as possible, and to assist your insurer where appropriate to recover the cost of your repairs from the other driver involved in the accident. It will also assist the insurance manager in your own office to prepare the necessary claim form.
